Band setting instruments and microphones in live room

Where the money goes

Band tracking is more than mics: you rent the 42 m² live room, an engineer, patching and monitoring for up to 6 players at once. Base rates are €125 per hour with engineer, €890 for an eight-hour day, or €520 per song with basic setup. Mix, mastering and extra overdubs usually sit outside that — see mixing (€185 per song) and mastering (€75 per stereo master).

At Soredialhub in Amsterdam prices include 21% VAT; B2B invoicing can use 14-day payment terms where agreed. A 40% deposit locks your date; details are in our terms. Capacity or routing questions: contact or 020 244 8193.

Hourly, daily or per song?

Hourly suits short overdubs, one extra guitar layer or a drummer redoing only the bridge. Include setup and soundcheck: the first forty-five minutes are rarely full takes.

Daily (€890) pays off when you track several songs live with the same mic plot and few major changes between tunes. Do not cram more songs than fit eight hours — two solid tracks beat four half-finished ones.

Per song (€520) fits a clear single or demo where basic setup happens once. Extra instruments, arrangement pivots or long soundchecks shift to hourly billing. Compare options on band recording before you book.

Budget timeline upfront

Build a sheet with columns: song, tempo, who plays live, expected takes, overdub yes/no. Allow at least thirty minutes setup for the first song of the day, fifteen when mics stay put. Drums often dominate: kit tuning, head choice, bleed checks with bass and guitar.

Buffer meals and ears: we are open Mon–Fri 10–19, Sat 11–17 by default; long days are booked explicitly. Travel for members: From Amsterdam Centraal it is about a 12-minute walk via Haarlemmerdijk and Haarlemmerweg. Bus 22 (stop Haarlemmerweg) is a few minutes away on foot. On-street bike parking and charging points; no private parking.. Late arrivals still consume your block — we start on time with whoever is present.

Included vs extra

Band recording includes the live room, booth when needed, engineer, basic edits and multitrack or stem export as agreed. Sessions stay archived 24 months. Not standard: heavy tuning, outside producers, video crew, rare amp rentals beyond house stock, or open-ended revisions — mix revisions follow mixing with 2 agreed rounds.

If you want rough mixes the same week, book time outside tracking or add mix hours (€78). Privacy and recording rights are contractual; commercial release remains your side toward labels and platforms.

Band size and room layout

Up to 6 musicians tracking at once keeps monitoring and safety manageable. Typical layout: drummer and bassist in the live room, vocals in the 9 m² booth, guitar direct or isolated — we sketch this from your rider before load-in.

Smaller can be faster: live trio plus later keys overdub may cost less than six players fighting bleed. Send references through contact; our recording engineer aligns mic choices with genre.

Mix and master in the total

Budget at least €185 per song up to 48 tracks; a five-track EP bundle is €720. Mastering: €75 per stereo song; album package up to twelve tracks €520. Planning tracking without mix is a common gap — raw multitracks are not a release.

If you mix elsewhere, read delivering stems for consistent handoff. For streaming loudness targets, see loudness for masters.

Save time without cutting corners

  • Rehearse arrangement at home; studio time is for capture, not songwriting marathons.
  • Send tempo map and rough demos so the session opens ready.
  • Bring strings, sticks, picks — small items reduce scramble.
  • Schedule doubles and lead vocals on a separate vocal recording day after the band bed is done.
  • Keep takes tight: useful passes beat twenty mediocre ones.
