Band recording

Track drums, guitars and bass together in our 42 m² live room, with amp isolation and a separate booth when you want clean vocals.

Band with drummer and guitarist in live room during tracking

Band sessions hinge on timing, spill control and a layout that matches your lineup — not a one-size-fits-all template. At Soredialhub on Haarlemmerweg in Amsterdam you get a mid-size live room plus control room and vocal booth (9 m²), so you can play live and overdub without changing location.

The service targets rock, indie, funk, jazz and pop groups capturing demos, EP tracks or album takes with an engineer on deck. Up to 6 musicians at once is realistic after we discuss monitoring and mic plans. Align schedule and budget through contact; cost splitting ideas sit in plan band recording budget.

Process

  1. Planning

Send setlist, tempos, references and a rough stage plot. We hold time, confirm pricing and a 40% deposit within 2 business days.

  2. Load-in

Position drums, amps on isolation pads, DIs and mics to plan. Soundcheck with individual headphone mixes.

  3. Tracking

Live passes or instrument-by-instrument basics. Punch-ins where needed; engineer watches phase and balance between rooms.

  4. Export

Multichannel WAV per song at 24-bit/48 kHz plus rough stereo mix. Archive 24 months; mix and master booked separately.

Live room layout

The live room is about 42 m² — enough for a drum kit, two amps and standing players, small enough to manage bleed. Guitar and bass amps sit on pads or partial isolation so drums do not flood every mic at once.

The site has 3 rooms overall: live room, control room and vocal booth. After a live bed you can cut vocals or solos in the booth without moving gear. That saves hours on tight song lists.

Drums, guitars and bass

Drums get overheads and close mics on snare, kick and toms depending on genre — more room for jazz, tighter close mics for rock. Guitars are captured with cabinet mics plus DI so mixing keeps options open. Bass runs DI with an optional amp in the room.

Bring your snare or cymbals if they define your tone; full drum rental is not part of the base rate. Fresh heads and tuning before the session shorten setup.

Live together or overdubs

Many bands track rhythm live and add vocals or solos in the booth later. Others want everything in one pass when monitoring and spill allow. We agree upfront which approach fits your tempo and studio experience.

Clicks and guide parts are welcome; supply WAV exports with clear start points. If you only cut bass and drums live and add guitars at home, book fewer room hours and reserve time for import and sync in the control room.

Monitoring and talkback

Each player gets a separate headphone mix. Too much click in the drum mix or too little bass for the guitarist gets fixed in soundcheck — not mid-take. Talkback and hand signals stay open between passes.

Producers or friends may listen in the control room; keep visitor count modest so the engineer can watch all lanes. Large entourages mean more breaks or a shorter list.

Deliverables per song

The per-song rate €520 covers basic setup and tracking for one song within agreed time — handy for a single without booking a full day. Multiple songs often fit the day rate €890 (8 hours) or hourly €125 when you want flexibility.

Each song ships as multitrack WAV plus a stereo rough mix for feedback. File naming follows a fixed pattern (song_instrument_take) so deliver stems for mixing stays easy if you mix externally.

Rates incl. VAT

Prices include 21% VAT and an engineer for booked time. Net for businesses: hour €103.31, day €735.54, per song €429.75.

Not included

Mixing, mastering, heavy editing of individual instruments after the session, backline rental beyond standard cables and DIs, and travel for session players sit outside Band recording. Songs needing more overdubs than booked time allow require extra hours or a follow-up day.

Recording tweaks stay within the session; mix revisions follow the mix deal with up to 2 rounds. We are not a label — release, promo and rights stay with you or your distributor.

Frequently asked questions

How many songs fit in one day?

It depends on arrangement complexity and takes per song. Tight bands often finish three to five songs in eight hours; first-time studio groups plan two to three. We help estimate via contact.

Can we bring our own amps and drums?

Yes — your backline sounds most like you. Flag heavy items so we reserve load-in time. Standard cables and DIs are included; unusual routing is agreed upfront.

Is there a player limit?

Up to 6 musicians in the room is our default. More than six needs a custom plan or overdub strategy.

Can we mix right after tracking?

If control-room time is free we schedule mixing separately — often on other days so you can rest. Stems are ready to export immediately.

What happens to our files?

Download after the session; we keep files 24 months on secured storage via TransIP B.V.. Maintain your own backups. Extended storage on request through contact.
